„One Dark Window“,von Rachel Gillig, sprach mich aufgrund des d\u00fcsteren Klappentextes sehr an.
Ich mochte die mystische, gar blutr\u00fcnstige Atmosph\u00e4re rund um den Wald und sein K\u00f6nigreich. Es hatte etwas spitzes vom Geschmack her an sich, was mich immer wieder aufs Neue faszinierte. Elspeth war ein komplexer Charakter, der zum Eigenschutz immer wieder auf M\u00e4chte und Magien zur\u00fcckgriff, die d\u00fcster und bereit waren, andere f\u00fcr sie zu \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigen. Ihnen Gewalt an zu tun. Ich mochte auch wie misstrauisch und hart sie gegen\u00fcber den Nebencharakteren war. Es machte sie herrlich erfrischend. Auch ihre Emotionen waren greifbar und je weiter man in der Story las, desto mehr litt man auch mit ihr. Die Nebencharaktere waren solide dargestellt und besa\u00dfen Rollen, die nicht ganz unwichtig f\u00fcr den Verlauf der Story war. Die Geschichte selbst erfindet nicht allzu viel neu, kommt aber mit einigen Aspekten und Perspektiven einher, die dem ganzen doch einen spannenden Anstrich verlieh.
F\u00fcr den Schreibstil brauchte ich etwas bis ich mich an ihn gew\u00f6hnt hatte und nur so durch die Seiten flog. Die Welt an sich fand ich etwas blass dargestellt und mir fehlte es an einigen Stellen an Bezug auf Politik, M\u00e4chte oder andere K\u00f6nigreiche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fazit. D\u00fcsteres, blutiges Setting und eine misstrauische Protagonistin, die gerne sich an Gewalt bedient. Jeder, der auf so etwas steht, sollte das Buch lesen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

„One Dark Window“, from Rachel Gillig, ist the first Book in the Shepherd King Duology.
I liked the dark, mysterious atmosphere around the forest and its kingdom. It had a sharp taste, which made addicted and fascinated about the book and always called me back to it. Elspeth was a complex character, who didn\u00b4t shy away from the use of black and unforgiving magic, to protect herself. Didn\u00b4t even shy away from violence. I also liked how suspicous and hard she was to the sidecharacters. It made her refreshing. Her emotions were grippable and deep, so after a while, I felt with her. The sidecharacters themselves were solid and had important roles in the books. The story isn\u00b4t something complteley new, but came with some different and new aspects, which gave it an electrifying touch.
The writing was at the beginnig a little bit rough, until I got depper into the story and got used it. The world itself felt ab bit empty and I missed some little facts about politics, diffrent kingdoms and more to the magic system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, to sum everything up: Dark, mysterious and with a refreshing character. I really can recommend this book to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
